Still searching

We’re still searching for selling our home and buy another one closer to my mother in law and my brother. So far, no luck :( .

Looking for a new home

We are trying to relocate to a new home but first we have to get the bank loan, find a new apartment, sell our current home and then go back to the bank to get all documents done. This will take a while :(

In Iasi, were I live, the prices for apartments are very high! The market is full and there are a lot of people out there looking to buy a home but who affords to spend EURO 25.000 on a 2 rooms apartment when the average wage in Romania is EURO 150??? And the banks do not loan money to the people whith such a wage!

We are hopping that everything will go smooth for us, but this is what we hope not what it will happen probably… We shall see…

You get what you paid for

Working as a professional webdeveloper, this is building websites for money, means that:

  • either you know client-side technologies such as (X)HTML, CSS, JavaScript or you know server-side technologies such as PHP, ASP, ColdFusion, JSP, MySQL, PostgresSQL, MS Access [… and so on]
  • you are using web standards;
  • you are using http://validator.w3.org/ services’
  • you ARE NOT using Microsoft FrontPage [any version]
  • you love what you are doing and you are doing it with passion
  • you are looking for improving your skils

Who do you think http://www.gurus2go.com/ has been build by? Webdevelopers professionals? Hmmm…. not sure. My guess is that “Indian FrontPage webdevelopers” did it!?! For what money! Whatever money the client paid, the website is not worth it! Some reasons are below but there are many others. Read on!

What the US client had received form the fellows “Indian FrontPage developers”? Here’s the impressive list:

» thousands of files -> for each city in a US state there is a file; -> for each US zip code in a city in each US state there is a file. The files are “htm” files. The diference between the files, in content speaking, is city name or zip code. That’s all. I’m very curious to know how many hours have our fellows Indian web developers spent for writing these files using FrontPage?
Downloading files
» a 55 kB html homepage [this is, without counting the media files such as images and Flash movie in the header of the page]. This require extra bandwidth which means extra money paid at webhosting company.
Homepage size
» a website that not validates against W3C validator not eaven one page among thousands of file
Validator service
» pages that are hillarious writen!
Source sample
» ironical HTML source comments!
Hillarious commnets
» a website that looks very wierd on Firefox 1.0 [FedoraCore 2], Firefox 1.0 [Windows XP] and Safari [Apple] [and probably on other browsers too]
» the “webdevelopers” contempt for what they do for a living
» I have information that the website is 700MB!?! I have tried to download it to my PC but could it take hours and it’s not north it.

Thus, my suggestion is to be careful who do you trust when you hire web developers to build your business website. Because you will get what you have paid for!
