Liviu Librescu - “A Romanian, US mournful’s hero”
Wednesday, April 18, 2007
What happens these days in Romanian mass-media in connection to the death of Liviu Librescu [ his resume ] in the incident took place at Virginia Tech University is simply disgustful! They reference him as “Romanian professor” while he has nothing to do with Romania as long as Romania’s political system made the professor to seek out his meaning outside Romania’s borders.
Who leaves his home town or country but the one who is in deep moral, pecuniary and political conflict with his country?
And now they claim the “paternity” of this professor who is an outstanding engineer and researcher! Outragious!
Yesterday, I’ve see on some Romanian TV talk-shows fellow Romanian professors who claimed to knew Liviu Librescu and they are cherish his memory! Nothing but a discusting way to simply stand in with Liviu Librescu! Why don’t we Romanians know anything about this professor? Why haven’t these professors made anything to broadcast Liviu Librescu’s work and research while he was alive? And now they claim they knew him? How far and how much can this deceitfulness can go? I am deeply discussed!
Very interesting is the fact that US mass-media, like CNN, reference Liviu Librescu as “An Israeli professor […]” while the origin of Liviu Librescu is in fact Romanian…
The bottom line is that mass-media is doing its arduously job of assuming paternity of the great people in terms of its interest and not in terms of accurateness and terseness of informing the general public. And this is as dirty as mass-media can be…
