Visiting London, UK
Thursday, July 5, 2007
We had a chance to visit London, UK the last week and we accepted! What a fantastic journey! First of all, it was our very first time to travel by air plain! I must admit that I was pretty scarred when the plane took off but all in all, it was a great experience to fly!
London had an interesting effect on us. While we learn from the people of the countries we visit, London people taught us the tolerance for all the people we see on the streets and we’ve met regardless their religion, sexuality, dresses or the way they think. Also, the strength of British humor hit us many times and we laugh out loud!
There were a few terrorist attacks [ some info here and here ] that made us avoid some zones in London, but we haven’t been affected otherwise.
We took The Original Tour as our London tour of choice but, unfortunately all the day rained so we had to skip the majority of the many London’s attractions, except Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square and London Eye. We are not sure why London Eye was closed to public… This was my biggest disappointment
Maybe due to terrorists attacks or bad weather.
What we really got us impressed on London was the way everything is marked up making almost impossible for us as tourists to get lost. The maps were at hand in each subway station and the bus stations were clearly marked with the name, next station [ or what’s towards ], maps and all the buses touching that particular station! You can easily get lost in my home town, Iasi, though it is a quarter of London.
Anyway, one on another, amazing experience, fantastic services, nice people, good shopping! We will definitely go back there and in the other zones of UK! And who knows, maybe we have a future there!
A few pictures we took while being in London can be seen on my Flickr account!
